Douglas MacArthur, a former WW2 hero, launched a bold offensive attack at the port city of Inchon, 100 miles from south of the 38th parallel, 25 miles from Seoul. American-led U.N forces were able to break the North Korean supply, and drive the North Koreans back upwards above the 38th parallel.
