Description:

The Missouri Compromise, proposed by Henry Clay was to appease the Congress and keep an even seating of proslave and anti-slave states. The Compromise stated that if a slave state were ready to enter it must wait until a free state is ready to enter and vice versa. It also stated that there was to be no slavery above the 36/30 parallel. Wood (2017) In class discussion. This is important because it is yet another way to push back the issue of slavery into a later date.
