When MacArthur's troops reached the Yalu River, some 300,000 Chinese soldiers attacked the South Korean and U.S. positions, forcing them back. At this point, China had involved itself with the war. China warned, if Americans were to come near their border, they would attack. But MacArthur reasured it was fine to do so.
