Truman was uncertain of the actions china would take if the UN brought the battle into North Korea because China warned American troops to not cross the border. Since MacArthur was so confident he could win, he marched his troops to the Yalu river, which was the dividing line, into 300,000 Chinese soldiers and was forced to retreat.Added to timeline:
