He was mentored by Wilhem Wundt and worked in his laboratory in Leipzig
After, he moved to Munich in 1903 where he founded the Department of Psychiatry of the University
In his lab he mentored Alois Alzheimer who studied the underlying causes of Alzheimer dementia
He differentiated between ‘dementia praecox’ and ‘manic depression’ as the two forms of psychosis which is still a leading theory today
