mar 1, 1938 - Hitler invades Austria 1938

Description:

Frightened of losing a Plebiscite vote, Hitler invades Austria. He then organises his own Plebiscite in which 99% of the people who voted supported the German take-over. There had been no violence or bloodshed during the take-over, but many Jewish Austrians, and socialists were unhappy.

Italy did not object due to their treaty with Germany.

Britain and France both ignored what was another attack on the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, esentially they were following a policy of appeasement.
