Threatened by the potential of multiple entries, being surrounded by possible enemies, Hitler signed the treaty with Poland to ensure that Hitler was not fully encircled by countries.
This annoyed the French who in turn signed a Treaty of friendship with Russia, allowing her to become a member of the LON in the same year.
