apr 28, 1803 - LOUISIANA PURCHASE
Description:
The Louisiana Purchase was a deal negotiated between France and the United States. France held control of the Louisiana Territory, until they offered it to the United States for a final offer of only $15 million. This treaty allowed the US to double their territory. By doing this, they guaranteed themselves a spot as a future world power. France gave up this large amount of land because they could not protect land so far away from their home country, and needed some money quickly.
