Tharsis begins drawing up plans for the Terraforming of Mars, long dismissed by the scientific community of Earth as an unfulfilable dream; yet to the settlers of Mars it is a vital a goal as Manifest Destiny. It is the beginning of work that shall last for decades,
centuries even, yet it is with a resounding cheers on the eve of the anniversary of the establishment of Ares-1 that the switch is thrown, and oxygen manufacturing begins. Circling above in a vast constellation of artificial stars, electromagnetic generators aboard the network of satellites simulate a basic planetary magnetic field; weak, yet strong enough to retain the first particles of oxygen as they burst free. Mars will be forever changed.
