aug 10, 1848 - Seneca Falls Convention

Description:

At the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls, NY the first ever woman’s rights convention organized by Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. They were two abolitionists who met at the 1840 World Anti-Slavery Convention in London. As women, Mott and Stanton were forbidden to go on the convention floor, and the anger that this influenced in both of them was the impetus for their founding of the women’s rights movement in the United States. This is a good thing but it also caused sectionalism because not everyone has the same views about women's right and someone will always have a problem with something.
