jan 1, 1970 - Stanfield Rogers is the First to Attempt to use Viral Vectors

Description:

Stanfield Rogers attempted to cure hyperargininemia in two young German girls aged two and seven. He injected a virus called Shope Papillomavirus into their bloodstreams in the hope that it would edit their genes and boost their arginase production. Unfortunately, the shope virus did not contain any arginase production gene at all, and this served no positive affect. Because of this, Rogers was widely censured and never worked in gene editing again (Brody)
