Britain declared on Germany, and at the time they had an alliance with Japan, so when Japan joined they took the Qing Dao, Marianas, Palau, the Carolines, and the Marshall Islands, which belonged to Germany. After the war, Japan joined the league of nations, and kept the land that they took from Germany
