Description:

Although Michelangelo was credited with this statue, but really it was started by Agostino, later taken up Antolio until it was eventually neglected when his contract ended. Michelangelo picked up the comission to finish this work and began working on this statue in 1501, molding his creation from the same marble. It now sits in the Accademia Gallery in Florence.
