jan 1, 1610 - Galileo's Discoveries
Description:
Galileo begins to improve the spyglass, eventually becoming the first person to be able to see the moon and its craters, as well as Jupiter's moons and Saturn's rings. This was also when Galileo proposed that the Earth wasn't the center of the universe. Although he wasn't the first (it was popularized by Nicolaus Copernicus) his scientific reasoning helped back the theory.
