The Antrim Affair:
- Provides assistance at the request of the earl of Sussex
- Drake invests in the enterprise and uses his own ships
- Bloody affair culminating in July 1575 with a surprise attack on Rathlin Island where 500 men, women and children were put to the sword
- Drake's role in the massacre is unclear but the Anterim operation but him into a close relationship with the earl's retainer, Thomas Doughty
