Blur and Oasis were two of the most popular British bands of the 1990s. The already established rivalry came to a head in August 1995 when they released singles "Country House" and "Roll with It" on the same day. Though Blur ended up selling more copies, Oasis would go on to be the more successful band. The lasting affect was that mainstream audiences in Britain and America were introduced to the independent music scene.
