A group of middle-class intellectuals in India founded the Indian National Congress (INC). The INC served as a voice of Indian opinion to the British government. The INC continued to play a major role in the future of India to this day. Currently, the INC is a political party in India. The INC was the first modern Nationalist movement to occur in the Britsh Emire in Asia.
