Description:

The Convention of Peking had ended the Second Opium War between the British and the Qing Dynasty. The convention had opened up eleven more Chinese cities to foreign trade. Opium was legalized and continued to flow into the country. Opium was destabilizing the Chinese government. There were several rebellions against both the Chinese government and against western influence. The treaties signed at the convention of Peking were considered to be one of the unequal treaties. Britain had more political and economic control over china.
