Description:
William H. Seward signs an agreement with Russia to buy Alaska for 4 million dollars. This purchase was ridiculed in the press with many nicknames such as “Seward’s Folly” and “Seward’s Icebox”. It was not until 1898 in which the people figured out about Alaska’s prosperity in natural resources, especially in gold.
