jan 1, 1912 - Alfred Wegener
Description:
Alfred also realized that the continents fit together. One bit of evidence he provided was "paleoclimatic indicators" that connected Africa to South America. He introduced the fact that rain forests and deserts were "aligned when the continents were placed together." He also thought that they once formed a supercontinent, called Pangea. But he could not explain how they moved apart. This relates to tectonic plates because the continents made up different plates that are not connected so they drifted apart.
