After shopping for my Christmas gifts, my mom picked me up in her Bayerische Motoren Werke, better known as the BMW. Originating from Munich, Germany, BMW commands a market cap of over $41 billion and holds more than a 10% market share in the U.S. high-end auto market. The multinational company builds most of its famous cars in Germany and depends upon a network of over 100 auto parts suppliers from all over the globe. Approximately 50% of its suppliers are located in Germany or are subsidiaries of German-based companies. However, BMW has emphasized consciousness toward environmental issues and has developed substantial sustainability guidelines for its suppliers. Thus, the globalization factors are environmental impacts as well as political for following the set goals for the environment.
