Along with my cereal, I chose to drink some water out of my cup from IKEA. IKEA is an extremely popular furniture multinational group worth around $58.7 billion. At present, IKEA currently has 433 stores across the globe and operates in over 52 countries. The company is responsible for approximately 1% of world commercial-product wood consumption, making it one of the largest users of wood in the retail sector. They first started expanding in 1963. Germany is currently the largest market with 53 stores, followed by the United States with 50 stores.
Minimalism is a large trend that has picked up within recent years in North America. Consumers enjoy having a clean and decluttered home without paying the hefty price tag that usually comes along with it. However, IKEA has provided an easy way of buying nice furniture with cheap prices that come from cheap labour outsourced from China and other Asian countries. Cultural effects are felt through the spread of IKEA and its aesthetic minimalistic designs throughout North America from Sweden. In addition, the environmental effects are felt through high demand and large manufacturing plants in China.
