jan 1, 1957 - African-American Students Try to Enrol in All-White Little Rock Central High School
In 1957 nine African-American students (Little Rock 9) tried to enrol in the All-White Little Rock Central High School. Though the school could not refuse them the enrolment, they were stopped from entering the school by armed officers, ordered by the Arkansas governor. President Elsenhower intervened, allowing the students to enter the high school that they were legally entitled to attend.
