Abolitionist John Brown lead a small group on a raid against a federal armory in Harpers Ferry, Virginia. He did this in an attempt to start an armed slave revolt and destroy the institution of slavery.This helped further the sectionalism in the US by northerners supporting Johns Brown's actions while the Southerners hated John Brown.
