On Monday I was called by a telemarketer from Pakistan inquiring whether or not I would be interested in taking Arabic lessons online through Skype. The factors of globalization that relate to this event include culture and politics, another part of globalization vital to this event is the role of technology. Culture relates to this event as this event was an example of someone communicating with me from a very distant location and the cultural factor of globalization states that through globalization communication is available with anyone at any time. Since the service of lessons was to be provided online, payment was also to be paid online through Paypal. This relates to the political aspect of globalization as it is an example of the merging of currencies, the online payment in CAD would be converted to rupees through Paypal without a bank. The role of technology is particularly important in this case as the service that was being offered required the use of telecommunications and online transactions. Also, the low cost and widespread availability of technology are what has made operating a service such as online lessons affordable to businesses.
