may 30, 1854 - Kansas-Nebraska Act
Description:
The Kansas Nebraska Act was significant because it allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their territories. This further intensified sectionalism because they were already above the Missouri Compromise Line, which meant no matter what they should become free states, which angered the people in the North because they were breaking the compromise.
