nov 6, 1860 - Election of 1860
Description:
The election of 1860 was significant because it was the first time that power in America passed from one party to another. This caused sectionalism because the new president would be Abraham Lincoln who was an abolitionist, who was completely against slavery. This caused major issues within the South because they feared the future of Slavery, however this was a great benefit for the North. Ultimately leaded to secession.
