jan 1, 1836 - Punched Paper Tape
Description:
In 1846, Scottish inventor and clockmaker Alexander Bain demonstrated the use of punched paper tape to send telegraph messages. His creation was a follow-on to earlier work using pens to create marks on paper tape as a telegraph message was received. (This notion was ultimately expanded upon to create the facsimile machine)
