Description:

Margaret was attacking Yorkist settlements having built an army in the North.
In response, Richard left London with a small army in an attempt to deal with these attacks. However, he heavily underestimated the Lancastrians and was confronted by a superior force when he reached his castle in Sandal.
He sent for the Earl of March to assist him. However, his fatal mistake was not waiting for these reinforcements to arrive. As a result, both he and his son died following this battle.
