jan 1, 1930 - Dassler realized that distance spikes should be different from sprinter spikes. Sprinters run on their toes and don’t use their entire foot. So plastic bottom plates were added to the toe area ,and heel protection was removed from sprinter spikes to cut out more weight. Also, different shapes of spikes were put into the bottom of the shoe depending on the event.
