jan 1, 1836 - Several Members of Bevis Marks Synogue Petition to introduce changes
Description:
The oldest synagogue in England, the Bevis Marks was founded in 1701. But in 1836, some wanted "such alterations and modifications as were in the line of the changes introduced in the Reform synagogue in Hamburg and other places." Clearly Reform Judaism was becoming very viasible in the world.
