jan 15, 1348 - The Plague reaches Italy
Description:
Genoese merchants that fled Kaffa continued their journey up the coast of the Mediterranean. They arrived in the Messina port in Sicily and already had visible symptoms of the plague. They were immediately chased out of the city but it was already too late. From here the plague spread all throughout the continent. Carried by animals and foolish people.
