Johannes Kepler was born in Germany (1571-1630). He was a German mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer. He supported the Copernican system, and his main goal was to demonstrate that the arrangement of the heavens follow geometrical rules imposed by God.
He is a significant figure in the Scientific Revolution and was known for discovering the 3 Laws of Planetary Motion:
-The orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the sun at a focus.
-A line joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during intervals of time.
-The squares of the sidereal periods of the planets are proportional to the cubes of their mean distances from the Sun.
