oct 18, 2019 - ¨The Creepy Way Facebook And Amazon Profit Off Our Private Data¨
Huffington Post
Description:
With the rise of companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, our private information, behaviors, and preferences are monitored and recorded and in turn sold as data to other companies. This is known as surveillance capitalism. Each person had become a product being sold and our information shows other companies how to best target each individual in order to do what they want. For example, Pokemon go, a game that became very popular in america, was actually herding people towards specific stores that had paid the company for business. The fact that these companies are gaining the ability to control our actions, and has major access to everything we do, poses a threat to our democracy and values.
