On January 3rd, 2007, the US death toll reaches 3,000. The war only around 4 years old had already reached 3,000 deaths from the US side only. It is estimated that more than 34,000 Iraqis were killed from violence in just 2006 alone. This gave angry mothers like Cindy Sheehan and everyone else who was already against the war more evidence that the war needed to end. There was no action to retrieve the troops. (NBC News)
