jun 1, 1951 - UNIVAC 1

Description:

Universal Automatic Computer (UNIVAC 1) was the world's first commercially available computer. It was designed by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly (designers of the ENIAC) and delivered on June 14, 1951. The UNIVAC handled both numbers and alphabetic characters equally well. The UNIVAC I was unique in that it separated the complex problems of input and output from the actual computation facility.

None of us have seen UNIVAC 1 in person but we have heard and seen photographs of it several times in our Computer classes.
