may 26, 1972 - SALT I TREATY

Description:

In this treaty, the regulation of anti-ballistic missiles was proposed, which were theoretically used to destroy incoming international ballistic missiles. Each side could only have one ABM deployment area and 100 interceptor missiles. What's more, the amount of incoming intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched ballistic missiles were frozen for five years. This was a reduction of tensions.
