jan 1, 1706 - STAMP ACT

Description:

It was a law approved by the Parliament of London on 22 March 1765 concerning books, newspapers and printed matter in general. It required English citizens residing in the colonies of North America to pay a tax on each printed sheet, including board papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers and all other publications. The introduction of this law triggered several protests within the colonies that claimed to have been taxed without their consent and without any reason, [2] in fact after protests and often violent demonstrations, the Stamp Act was repealed on March 18, 1766
