jun 1, 1559 - Elizabethan Compromise
Description:
The Elizabethan Compromise was an act of religious tolerance signed by Queen Elizabeth. The compromise stated that Anglicanism was the official religion England, but it was legal to be Catholic. Catholics were allowed to convert to Anglicanism, but Anglicans were not allowed to convert to Catholicism. The Elizabethan Compromise was widely successful, and England was much more peaceful and stable under the compromise than it was under Mary Tudor.
