Description:
In 1496, Henry VII gave John Cabot and his son permission to go on a voyage and return with goods for the English market. Cabot set sail, and made landfall in North America on June 24, 1497. However, Cabot believed he had reached Asia, and he returned to England after planting the English flag on the land he found. However, Cabot tried to repeat his voyage and never returned.
