apr 1, 1966 - The Status of TYA
Description:
In the mid-sixties, Wood (1999) recalls experiencing children’s theatre in Oxford, a pantomime at The New Theatre, and remembers it to be a ‘succession of variety acts’, thin in story-line. The children were restless, and the actor even suggested that it was time for the children to go, so the real – adult – entertainment could start. This clearly shows that theatre for children did not really have its importance.
