jan 26, 1907 - 1907 Corporate Contributions Ban

Description:

President Theodore Roosevelt, after a corporate fundraising scandal of his own in 1904, called for a ban on all such contributions. The Tillman Act in 1907 prohibited corporations and national banks from contributing money to federal election campaigns. However, as no Federal Election Committee was established to enforce this, the law was relatively easy to circumvent.
