A crowd in Liverpool watch the professor Richard Codman III Punch and Judy. The 1950s saw a move towards cinema and theatre and music halls and Punch and Judy remained a stable seaside and street form of entertainment. During these years the work of the professor Fred Tickner (1898-1992) helped develop puppetry and he introduced Punch and Judy to television as early as 1930.
