dec 1, 1972 - Lambert Puppet Theatre
Description:
Lambert Puppet Theatre & Museum was established in 1972 by Eugene Lambert and later ran by his son, Liam from 2015 onwards. Situated in Monkstown, Co Dublin. Wanderly Wagon is one of their most loved programme produced by the company.
Lambert Puppet Theatre came at a time when live puppetry was almost forgotten (Jordon&Weitz, 2018). Lamberts contribution was unique in that it had an Irish flavour while using Christmas panto elements. Eugene Lambert was a local man, being the son of an Sligo Librarian. In Europe Puppetry had a strong emphasis on the use of imagination and its development and Lambert was eager for this to be an element in his performances. With a small budget, the family business, with his wife and 10 children did everything themselves. from the construction of sets, props, costumes and puppets to lighting, sound and music and the productions. This was done to a very high standard.
