Anita Hill was an African American Law Professor at the University of Oklahoma. Clarence Thomas was appointed by the George H.W. Bush for the Supreme Court. Hill claimed that Thomas sexually harassed her by talking about sexual acts and pornography after Hill had declined a date with Thomas. The Senate ruled in favor of Thomas. He was able to receive his position as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. Following this, feeling underrepresented in the government, a substantial amount of women ran for position in congress and won. The media coined the year 1992 the "Year of the Woman".
