jun 28, 1629 - Peace of Alais signed
Description:
The Peace of Alais, created by King Louis XIII of France, who ruled under the influence of Cardinal Richelieu (in the picture), upheld the terms in the Edict of Nantes, but added two extra. These two additional terms listed were as follows: Protestant towns couldn't have walls and they couldn't have armies. This centralized the country by lessening the number of people who held power (or armies), and allowed the future king Louis XIV to expel Huguenots entirely.
