When Henry VIII wanted to annul he and his wife's marriage because she could not produce an heir, he requested that the Pope allowed it. Since it was considered a sin in Catholicism, the Pope would not allow it. In response Henry VIII founded the Church of England(also know as Anglicanism) to allow himself to annul his marriage. Anglicanism still remains England's religion today.Added to timeline:
