- Day 473
- Rick wakes up on the couch with Jessie curled up next to him. She tells him it's morning and they made it through the night without even a tap on the window after Rick dozed off. Nobody has seen them and she doesn't want to have to explain their relationship to Ron. Rick tells her that he really likes having here hear and they kiss.
- Michonne tells Carl that Morgan's fever is bad, Morgan exclaims from his room that he's dying and they should know it. Michonne tells him that the fever could be anything. Morgan asks for a minute with Carl so Michonne leaves them to it. Morgan tells Carl that he's a remarkable young man and reminds him of his son, Duane. He tells Carl that he knows he killed Ben (see day 410) because he had to, and nobody else could do it. He saw how it affected Carl at night and assures him that he's a good boy and not a cold-blooded killer, and killing takes a piece of your soul every time, he knows it. He tells him that the new world is going to deny him things, like his innocence. The important life skills he learned in school will be very important for him. He goes on to say that he doesn't know how he'll be here on his own without him and that he's going to have to be strong, Duane.
- Carl reminds him that Duane is dead. And Morgan cries.
- Andrea contemplates ways of thinning out the herd but none of them are plausible. Spencer suggests they just leave on their own. Andrea is strictly against this and reminds him that Glenn has a wife and daughter trapped in there. Spencer suggests that just him and her go, and that his father basically died the moment his mother did. Andrea punches him in the jaw and puts an end to 'you and me'.
