Description:

Vast priviledges were granted to the gentry to convince them to join a war against the Teutonic Order.

They limited the king's freedom with respect to calling for levy en masse (pospolite ruszenie) and passing new exceptional taxes, who now had to consult the sejmiks of the nobility.

They are seen as foundational for a system known as the democracy of the nobles (demokracja szlachecka; szlachta democracy).
