jan 1, 1895 - J.J. Thomson

Description:

English physicist
He discovered electrons and noticed that an atom wasn’t as indivisible as previously claimed.
He concluded atoms are made of positive cores and negatively charged particles within it.
Discovered the electron experimented by testing and studying the nature of electric discharge in a high-vacuum cathode-ray
He developed the Plum Pudding Model before the atomic nucleus was discovered
By determining the charge to mass ratio and coming up with the idea that an atom was like plum pudding; mostly pudding(positive 'goo') but every once in a while you get a chunk of plum (electrons).
In 1904, he put forward his model of the atom based on his findings it was called "The Plum Pudding Model". It predicted the atom as a sphere of positive charge, with electrons dotted throughout like plums in a pudding.
As scientists had started to peer into the atom’s innards, Thomson’s model was proven incorrect
